I am Laura H. Smith, RDN, CDCES, CPT and have been working as a dietitian in the Austin area for over 20 years.
I started my career in the hospital, but left the hospital over 10 years ago to pursue nutrition counseling one on one, especially in the areas of heart health, diabetes, weight management, and chronic disease prevention.
I am particularly passionate about helping people develop nutrition and lifestyle habits that can help with managing chronic conditions or prevent them from happening in the first place!
As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), I can help with nutritional management of diabetes or help reverse prediabetes. And as an American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer (ACE-CPT), I can help guide you to a more active lifestyle to help improve physical and mental health.
I absolutely love learning and reading about all things nutrition (so I could not have a more perfect job!)
When I realized that I was experiencing some symptoms related to menopause, I dove in and researched all that I could about nutrition, exercise, lifestyle, and their impact on menopause. I have found research backed strategies that have helped me, and I want to pass on what I have learned to other women.
My philosophy is to meet you wherever you are on your health journey.
No two people are alike, so nutrition advice cannot be the same for everyone. I would love to help you reach your goals by helping you discover what works for you, and why it works. My goal is to help you be so confident in your nutrition knowledge and nutrition habits, that I work myself out of a job!
